Are you concerned about your child’s speech and language development?
If you have found our website there’s a good chance you are concerned about your child’s communication. We can help!
Children develop their speech and language at different rates. You can check this fantastic website for developmental norms – the age you should be expecting your child to be making certain sounds in speech or using more complex language structures. It also contains a range of ideas and resources to support you and your child.
What we do.
As a team of specialist speech and language therapists, passionate about Children’s communication we can help your child.
Initially we will ask you for more information to understand what your concerns are and then we will arrange a face to face assessment in our Kings Heath Clinic.
Following the assessment you will be given some practical ideas you can start using straight away to help your child. You will also have a report outlining their strengths and needs and identifying what support we recommend.
We have a number of therapy packages available and your therapist will be able to discuss which one is most appropriate.
We currently run clinics on Tuesdays and Fridays and can generally offer an appointment within a couple of weeks.
What to expect when you contact us
Please feel free to call 07904981462 or use the contact us form on this website to let us know you are concerned about your child’s communication. We will aim to have a chat with you in the first instance to understand your concerns. At this point we may be able to sign post you to other resources that better meet your needs or reassure you if an appointment is not necessary. In the event that an appointment would be advisable we will send you a copy of our pre appointment questionnaire. This enables us to capture some of the important background information that ensures we prepare appropriately for your assessment. We will be able to discuss costs with you.
What to expect at your first appointment
Depending on the age and needs of your child at the first appointment we will carry out formal and informal assessments to work out what your child can do and what they are finding more difficult. We are experienced working with shy and nervous children and make these sessions as fun as possible especially if the child finds the the new situation daunting. At the end of the session your therapist will be able to discuss their findings with you and will provide you with a report. Further recommendations and therapy will be discussed as appropriate.
