What we do.

Speech therapy clinic in Kings Heath Birmingham

As a team of specialist speech and language therapists, passionate about Children’s communication we can help your child.

Initially we will ask you for more information to understand what your concerns are and then we will arrange a face to face assessment in our Kings Heath Clinic.

Following the assessment you will be given some practical ideas you can start using straight away to help your child. You will also have a report outlining their strengths and needs and identifying what support we recommend.

We have a number of therapy packages available and your therapist will be able to discuss which one is most appropriate.

We currently run clinics on Tuesdays and Fridays and can generally offer an appointment within a couple of weeks.

 

What to expect when you contact us

We will aim  to have a chat with you in the first instance to understand your concerns. At this point we may be able to sign post you to other resources that better meet your needs or reassure you if an appointment is not necessary. In the event that an appointment would be advisable we will send you a copy of our pre appointment questionnaire. This enables us to capture some of the important background information that ensures we prepare appropriately for your assessment.We will be able to discuss costs with you.

What to expect at your first appointment

Depending on the age and needs of your child at the first appointment we will carry out formal and informal assessments to work out what your child can do and what they are finding more difficult. We are experienced working with shy and nervous children and make these sessions as fun as possible especially if the child finds the the new situation daunting. At the end of the session your therapist will be able to discuss their findings with you and will provide you with a report. Further recommendations and therapy will be discussed as appropriate.

Our clinic

We see children at SISU our therapy centre. We have a number of treatment rooms that enable us to see you in a relaxed and private environment. There is a waiting area and limited parking right outside. There is free parking on the road and adjacent roads. We are also on the number 11 bus route.

Our team

We have a very experienced group of therapists who see children. They are all very passionate about working with children with communication difficulties. Different therapists have different areas of specialism and interest and you will always be matched to a therapist who is best able to meet the needs of your child.

All of our therapists are members of the Royal College of Speech and language Therapists. They are registered with HCPC and have up to date DBS checks (Disclosure and Barring service – formerly CRB)

Our Speech & language therapy services are not part of the NHS.

You will need to pay for appointments.

We would always recommend that you seek a referral to the NHS. Although the waiting time is currently long it is important that you are on the list in case your child has a longer terms need for services. You can ask your Health Visitor or GP to refer you or you can refer yourself. follow this link.
